Wildlife, especially birds pose a risk to aircraft safety. Wildlife control officers must proactively reduce safety risks to aircraft. They monitor the environment within and around the airport using a variety of methods to discourage and remove wildlife risk.

Knowledge of the airport and it's surroundings and local knowledge of the patterns, habits of wildlife and learning new wildlife control techniques keep the Wildlife Control Officer proactively managing risk and keeping aircraft moving safely.
