Micro-credential for school leavers and industry employees.

If you are a workplace learner or someone not studying yet - Take off is a great introduction into aviation ground operations in New Zealand. Aviation is one of the most regulated industries in the world. To resume operations safely, airlines and ground handling agents must comply with legal requirements and provide recurrent training to ensure the competence of employees and to people new to the industry.

NZQA accredited tertiary training provider JNP Aviation Training (JNPAT), is offering this package of learning anyone keen to get an introduction to the aviation industry.

Learn effective communication and two-way radio use in aviation, baggage handling and preparation for loading on aircraft, and health, safety and security in aviation. This micro-credential is also available to those already employed in the industry, and is stacked towards:

• New Zealand Certificate in Ground Operations, Ramp Handing (Level 3) - Take Off contains 20 of the 61 credits required for this Certificate.

Entry requirements

There are no prerequisites for this course. This course is designed for anyone who wishes to assess against standards or standard operating procedures in their workplace or for a training provider. Please contact us pre-enrolment through our Expression of Interest form and we will ensure that this is the right Course for you and/or your organisation.

Purpose statement

The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with the following knowledge and skills in an aviation environment; to use a two-way radio; communicate effectively in teams; apply health and safety and security rules and to complete baggage preparation for loading in ground operations.

Graduate profile

Graduates will be able to apply health, safety and security rules in an aviation environment; communicate effectively in their team at work, use a two-way radio and prepare baggage for loading using trolleys in the ground operations environment.

Career opportunities

There are many different job opportunities in the aviation ground operations industry. Marshalling, baggage handling, aircraft cleaning and airport front of house staff are a few examples. Chat further with us today!

Regulatory requirements

All onsite PPE, delivery resources, workbooks (including LMS content) and assessment material will be provided by JNPAT and issued to students at the JNPAT Induction. Time has been left between each intake to allow for student catch ups or additional assistance, credit reporting, all administration, teaching preparation and academic and stakeholder meetings. It is preferable that students BYD (bring your own device), however there are desktop computers available at the JNPAT classrooms.

Start date

This Micro-credential is for anyone keen to get an introduction to the aviation industry. If work-based, it is arranged with JNPAT and Industry Training Facilitator. Course duration

10 weeks . For those employed in industry dates will be arranged to suit learner and JNPAT.

Study Location

JNPAT Training rooms, Hangar 8, 142 Aerodrome Road, Tauranga (located next to the Tauranga Airport). Not available to international students

10 weeks of industry / workplace training and JNPAT classroom theory

Delivery method

Each 20 credit micro-credential is taught across a total of 10 weeks. Intakes commence with the coordination of industry and JNPAT.

Course and assesSment type

Micro-credential of competency based unit standards. Assessment type uses both moodle activities and practical observations.
